Victoria Mockford said her seven-year-old daughter Kaitlyn decided she wanted to help when she saw a little girl on the news with no hair.

“She asked why and when she heard, she wanted to do something,” explained Victoria, of Amberley Drive.

“She asked if she could share her hair. She is going to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, charity that provides wigs to children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.”

Kaitlyn decided she would like to grow her hair for a while so that she could give as much as possible to the charity.

Now, several months later, the day has finally arrived when her hair length has met the target she decided.

Victoria estimates around 12 inches of hair will be donated when the cut takes place on Tuesday.

Kaitlyn also wants to raise £150 for the charity and plans to complete one hour’s sponsored silence on Sunday, August 14.

Victoria said: “This will prove difficult as she is a chatterbox!”

Grandads Front Room, in West Street, Bognor Regis, has set up a donation station, with a small donation box, sponsor forms and posters explaining what Kaitlyn is doing.
