Members of the Bognor Regis club joined thousands of charity supporters from across the UK last month for the Rotary Ride, a national fundraising effort and the biggest cycling event of its kind.

Rotarians joined members of the public, who were invited to take part by organising a cycle ride.

Peter Stemp, president of the Bognor Regis rotary club, said: “Of course it’s not just fathers who are affected by this deadly disease, it’s friends, brothers, sons or even your neighbour.”

“That’s why we’re holding this ride in Arun to help support those affected by prostate cancer, and we felt Father’s Day was a great way for people to spend quality time together while raising money and awareness for charity.”

“The main ride featured members riding from Bognor Regis to Littlehampton and back and at the same time members from the Littlehampton Rotary Club made the trip in reverse.

“The aim was to raise £1,000 for the Prostate Cancer Charity by sponsorship and thanks to much generous support that is exactly what we achieved as we have raised £1,015 so far.

“We have already decided that this was such a great success that we will make it an annual event so watch out for the adverts in a years time.

“It was a chance for members of the public to get on their bikes and join us - with over 20,000 participants signed up, it was an incredible day.”
