TOWN SHOW UNITED FRONT

STEYNING pushed fellow-strugglers Eastbourne United to another defeat at The Oval on Saturday, leaving them hanging further over the abyss that is intermediate football.

With so much at stake both defences were understandably nervous and both attacks were gifted some good chances, but that final thrust in the area was missing.

United 'keeper Kusha Movaffagh saved well from Richard Lester in one Steyning foray, but United hit back when Scott McDonald weaved his way through a retreating defence and it took a good tackle by Darren Kelly to thwart him.

Eastbourne skipper Danny Birkens was involved in most of the United attacks and Chris Duffett was prominent for the visitors.

More details in Shoreham Herald on January 30.
