Tideway girls romp home in final

Girls' Minute Maid Sussexfinal (under-13 level)Eastbourne Technology College 0 Tideway School 8Tideway School from Newhaven coasted to an eight-goal victory at Lancing College to successfully retain their county crown against Eastbourne Technology College.

Tideway started the game positively and dominated the opening exchanges as Toni Rigby, Paige Ripley and Holly Saunders all went close to opening the scoring.

The breakthrough came after 13 minutes when Rigby played in Ripley and the left midfielder took the ball around a couple of Eastbourne defenders before firing home.

Tideway were dominating possession and added a second minutes later through Charlotte Lloyd.

Tideway' third came after an inch-perfect ball over the top by centre back Laura Perryman for Michelle Forshaw to chase through.

Tideway started the second half strongly from the kick off with Ripley grabbing her second to make it 4-0 and Lloyd added a quickfire fifth after going close with two shots that hit the crossbar.

Rigby added the sixth with a clean strike from the edge of the penalty box, and Lloyd fired home her hat-trick for the seventh after some good build-up play. Ripley got the eighth with an excellent finish to grab another hat-trick.

Team coach Kelly Hunter said: 'It was a convincing team performance with every member playing their part.'
