Rye crowned champions

Rye United have won Division Two in the Sussex County Football League.

The Quarterboys were confirmed in top spot after Worthing United could only draw at home to Littlehampton Town on Monday.

A two-goal victory would have been enough for Worthing to pip Rye to the title on goal difference after they beat Rye 4-1 on Saturday.

Rye finished with three consecutive defeats, but it has still been an excellent season with 13 wins from their first 14 away league games and 16 victories from their opening 17 league matches of 2010.

Standings - top 4 of 18 (all played 34 matches): 1 RYE UNITED 76pts, 2 Worthing United 74, 3 SIDLEY UNITED 73, 4 LITTLE COMMON 71.

The Football Association has also agreed to Rye's promotion following weeks of speculation over whether or not they had met new ground grading regulations.
