Champions Pulborough complete the perfect season in Sussex 2 West

Champions Pulborough 2nd completed their perfect league season on Saturday with a convincing 102-12 win against Hove 3rd.

It was their 22nd win from their 22 games to finish top of the table and victors of Sussex 2 West.

Saturday capped the whole league season off with a 16-try romp together with 11 conversions for Pulborough’s biggest winning margin of the season.

The match was refereed by the excellent Dave Sainsbury and the try scoring was led by Henry Lee with a hat-trick, followed by Al Ryan, Owain Jones and Guy Baxter with two each.

There were also scores for captain Ollie Bamber, Sean Culling, Will Akers, Garry Kidner, Marc Livesley, Stu Standing and Chris Whyte.

The team is made up a group of experienced veterans such as former 1st XV captains Jonathan Scrase, Kidner, Andy Bates and Baxter as well as new comers Jack Corbett, Livesley, Tom Adams, Jones, Andy Flack, Culling, Alex Jones.

They are supported by second-team regulars Matt Corrall, Standing, Ryan, Akers, Lee, Whyte, Jason Denman and captain Bamber.

Over the season the team has come together really well, built a fantastic team spirit and helped each other to achieve an unbeaten season in the league.

It is the first time the 2nd XV has achieved such a feat and the 3rd XV have also gained promotion from Sussex 3.

Pulborough are now looking forward to their cup final against Hastings and Bexhill 2nd on April 25 at Seaford.
