Littlehampton back in top two

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club are back in the promotion places in Sussex League Division 2.

They took all 30 points at Bexhill on Saturday, while Stirlands and Haywards Heath both saw their matches abandoned because of Saturday's heavy rain.

Littlehampton are now second, a point ahead of Stirlands, with Heath fourth, 13 points behind Littlehampton.

Bexhill were dismissed for 204 with four wickets for left-arm spinner Chris Hanks and three for captain Benn Challen.

Littlehampton then reached their target for the loss of five wickets. Chris Heberlein top-scored with 36 and Chris Green and Dan Rive both made 35.

All local interest in the Invitation League fell victim to the weather.

Clymping were 65-3 in response to Wisborough Green's 164-8 when rain stopped play.

East Preston were in the excellent position of 289-3 off 43 overs at Southwick before play was stopped. Sean Rebbetts was unbeaten on 136 and Jack Sunderland smashed 68 in a 135-run third-wicket stand.

EP got 10 points from the game to move out of the bottom two. They are now five points ahead of second-bottom Scaynes Hill.

Aldwick had made 200-9 from 48 overs at home to Rustington before their game was abandoned. Rustington's Dave Moon took seven wickets for 80 runs.
