Joan, 90, leads way to pairs win
Ninety-year-old Joan Taylor and skip Betty Emmins won the ladies pairs in a closely-fought match at the Crouch Bowls Club finals.
Emmins said: 'Joan was a wonderful lead '“ once she found her length she played a good solid game. It was a match I shall never forget.'
Opponents Pat Bud and Pam Jones were in good form and were well ahead at the halfway stage, but Taylor and Emmins came back steadily and were a shot to the good at the start of the last end.
They were in trouble at one stage but Emmins ran the jack into a safe place for a single shot.
