Jack Squirrel Trophy retained

MANNINGS Heath Golf Club, Horsham, maintained its hold on the Jack Squirrel Trophy on Sunday.

The trophy was established in 2003, to be awarded to the winner of friendly matches between Mannings Heath Golf Club and Pyecombe Golf Club, with a home and away match each year.

The name of the trophy derives from the squirrel which is part of the Mannings Heath emblem, while Jack is one of the windmills on the Pyecombe logo '“ that course is overlooked by the Jack and Jill Windmills at Clayton.

Pyecombe won the inaugural year of the trophy and Mannings Heath has won it every year since then, bar one in which the matches were void.

This year the match was halved when Pyecombe played at Mannings Heath, but on Sunday Mannings Heath won the second leg at Pyecombe, eight up, to retain the trophy.
