Jamie Barton and Luke Fisher went into the prep A men’s pairs with high hopes having won every competition they had entered all season. Their routine to the theme tune of Indiana Jones was well received and earned them a very high score.

The Hollington duo were the first to compete, however, so had to wait for the rest of the field to perform before finding out they had done enough to take the national title.

Kai Jerrey and Charley Wells followed Barton and Fisher onto the floor, and continued the success with a bronze medal performance in the prep A mixed pairs.

Fern Pattinson and Laura Gow performed a fantastic grade two women’s pairs routine. Their score of 26.23 put them sixth, but just 0.13 of a mark away from a medal.

The decision to give Esme Campbell Marshall and Tia West a new routine for the finals proved the right one with the girls performing the best they have all season in the prep B women’s pairs. An unavoidable height deduction put paid to what would have been a top four finish.

The trio of Zara Hyland, Karma Corbett and Malek Jbali competed together for just the third time having only been training as a trio for the latter part of the season. They did not disappoint, producing a novice group routine worthy of a national final appearance.

The four Hollington pairs and one trio had already exceeded all expectations by winning the qualifying round to represent the South East region. It was the first time Hollington have had competitors in five categories qualify for the national finals.
