H&B face injury crisis

HASTINGS & Bexhill Rugby Club is hoping to overcome an injury crisis in a crucial Sussex Division One match this weekend.

The William Parker Sports College outfit is without a host of players for the trip to Crawley tomorrow (Saturday).

Captain Kit Claughton said: "We've got a lot of injuries, but we're lucky enough to have a big squad and a good pool of talented players to pick from. I'm pleased with everybody's attitude and I think whoever we put in will do a job."

H&B will definitely be without Chris Calloway (torn ankle ligaments), Mike Lawless (work), David Northen (broken nose), Matt Harboard (holiday) and Andy Dalton (university) in addition to long term injury victims Kris Dempster and Steve Lovick.

There are also doubts over Roger Roberts (shoulder), Greg Stokes (shoulder), Neil Redman (work) and Martin Sheppard (work).

Claughton added: "It's going to be a very tough game, but there's no reason why we can't come away with a win."

The local club tops the early table after comfortably winning its first two games, while Crawley, who beat H&B en route to finishing third last season, have lost both of theirs.
