GOLDS TOPPED BY ROBINS

WHEN YOU are within catching distance of the relegation-threatened clubs, the last thing you want to do as a team is play like world-beaters in one half and panel-beaters in the other. Littlehampton drove their manager Andy Taylor to describe them as naive and lacking conviction, adding that there needed to be more maturity in his team.

The game revolved around a frustrating 90 seconds for Golds. Leading 2-0 at the break, Ian Browne was presented with a near-certain scoring opportunity in the first minute of the second half, but his left-footed drive went past the far post. He should have scored because the goal was at his mercy and, had he done so, he would probably have put the game beyond recall for Hassocks.
