Walters disappointed at lack of TV coverage

Dave Walters is disappointed at the lack of television coverage for Hastings United’s FA Cup third round tie away to Middlesbrough.

The match hasn’t been selected for extended highlights, let alone a live broadcast, even though United are comfortably the lowest ranked team left in the world famous competition.

“It seems very strange,” said United’s chairman. “They’re obviously so confident it’s going to be such a miss-match that they’re not even bothering.

“I’m hoping our players use that as a real kind of incentive. Let’s suppose they pulled off one of the shocks of all time and the cameras weren’t there.”

The line-up of live games was announced prior to United’s second round replay win over Harrogate Town last Thursday, which was shown live on ESPN.

“I was surprised at the time,” added Walters. “Irrespective of who it was, Harrogate or ourselves, surely it’s got to be of great interest to a lot of neutrals.”

ITV are showing Brighton & Hove Albion versus Newcastle United and West Ham United against Manchester United, while the matches involving Swansea City and Arsenal, Mansfield Town and Liverpool, and Cheltenham Town and Everton are on ESPN.
