United game set to go ahead

Hastings United’s game at home to Whitehawk tonight (Tuesday) is set to go ahead.

The Ryman Football League Cup quarter-final is expected to beat the freezing temperatures and kick-off at The Pilot Field is 7.45pm.

United groundsman Simon Rudkins wrote on social network site Twitter: “pitch still soft think we should be fine for a full 90 minutes”

The U’s will be pleased to get the game played because with midweek fixtures already lined-up for just about every week until well into March, the last thing they need is any postponements.

Whitehawk are flying high at the top of the Premier Division table, while United are second-from-bottom following their 1-0 defeat away to Enfield Town at the weekend. The sides fought out a 2-2 draw when they met in the league at East Brighton Park on Boxing Day.

As previously mentioned, Sidley United’s scheduled visit from East Preston in Sussex County League Division One has been postponed owing to a waterlogged Gullivers pitch. It means the Blues have still only played once since the 4-3 loss at home to Lingfield back on December 11.
