Suter was appointed manager last month when he took over from Jon Tucker and believed more of last year’s team were going to stay.

Wick won promotion from Sussex County League Division 2 last season and will ply their trade in the newly-named Southern Combination League Premier Division in the upcoming campaign.

Despite promotion, Wick have lost a number of players with Jordan Matthews, Seb Bagyura, Ash Harper, Matt Noble, Curtis Horne and Andy Chick all leaving.

Suter said: “I’m really disappointed with the number of departures.

“The team worked so hard to gain promotion last season and they won’t be here this time around.

“It’s going to be a tricky job getting the side together now.”

Suter has brought in five players so far, with Aaron Jeal and Mo Shuga’a following him from Steyning, while Taylor-Lee Hayes, Alex MacIver and Gary Peters have also signed.

He said: “I’m pleased to get these guys in. It’s going to take a bit of rebuilding but I’m sure we will have a good season when the squad is settled.”
