Storm Dennis wreaks havoc for local sports teams

Horsham's away game at Leatherhead is one of a number of sporting fixtures to have been postponed due to Storm Dennis this (Saturday) afternoon.

The BetVictor Isthmian Premier Division clash was deemed playable after the pitch at Fetcham Grove passed an inspection at 10am this morning.

But the referee postponed the game 45 minutes before kick-off after a late pitch inspection.

In the SCFL Premier Division, the local derby between near-neighbours Broadbridge Heath and Steyning Town has also fallen foul of the weather.

The game at The Countryside Stadium was on as of 9am this morning.

But despite the best efforts of Heath to get the game on the derby was postponed at 2pm.

Loxwood's visit to Eastbourne Town was called off at 10.30am.

Alfold took action to avoid a waterlogged pitch on Friday afternoon.

Fold tweeted to say they had switched the game against Eastbourne United to Horsham's The Camping World Community Stadium, and its 4G pitch.

At the time of writing, Horsham YMCA's game at Premier Division leaders Lancing is due to go ahead.

In Division 1, Storrington and Roffey's home games against Bexhill United and Worthing United respectively have been postponed.

At the time of writing, Billingshurst's away clash at AFC Varndeanians is on after passing a pitch inspection.

TD Shipley's Division 2 game at Jarvis Brook has also been called off.

And our rugby union sides have also been affected by the storm.

Horsham and Horsham Lions both saw trips to Camberley postponed due to the weather.

The Green and Whites were due to face Camberley in London 1 South while the Lion were set to take on Camberley 2nd XV in the Surrey Premiership.
