Sidley miss out on semi spot

Sidley United allowed a golden opportunity to reach the Sussex RUR Charity Cup semi-finals slip through their grasp.

The Blues squandered a 2-0 lead as they went down 4-2 away to Sussex County League title hopefuls Crawley Down in the last eight on Tuesday night.

A Terry Payne cracker and one from Jason Taylor put Sidley in command, and they also hit the post twice before Crawley Down pulled one back amid a strong suspicion of a push on Danny Spice before half time.

Sidley passed up a trio of one-on-one opportunities during the second half and they were made to pay as Crawley Down turned the match around with three of their four goals coming from set-pieces.
