Rampant Rye hit Oaks for six

Rye United surged into round three of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup on Tuesday night.

The Sussex County Football League Division One high-flyers enjoyed a resounding 6-0 win away to Division Two side Oakwood despite fielding an experimental line-up.

Goals from Luke Woodley and the fit-again Shaun Loft put Rye two-up at half time before terrific second half strikes by Danny Ellis, Woodley, Sam Cole and Jono Richardson rounded-off the scoring.

Rye’s reward is a trip to fellow top flight outfit Redhill on Saturday when they are likely to bring back some of their big hitters with their FA Vase tie against Chalfont St Peter only a week away.

Rye: Pelling; Moreby, Radley, Loft (Warne), Cole; Ellis, Colbran (Richardson), Franklin; Woodley, J. Clarke (Buay); Cooper.
