Then at least they'll know one position where they won't finish. Actually last year my predictions were not a total failure – successes included me tipping Leeds for a top-half finish, Newcastle for 12th place (spot on) and Fulham to go down (no fortune made if betting on that one). So here goes for 2021-22 – my predicted finishing positions. And to anyone who claims I've come up with these with only a tiny fraction of the research or analysis as most other tipsters and columnists, you'd be absolutely right. Pictures: Getty Images
13. Southampton
Same spot I predicted for the Premier League's chief selling club last year. And it wasn't far off being right, even though they got something like six points in 30 games, or what seemed like it, at one stage. Ralph will be under pressure if they have a slow start but in their usual manner they'll probably muddle through and their fans will have their usual episodes of delusion and think things will soon get better than this, which they never will. 14. Brighton
Brighton play some great football and I'm a big fan of Graham Potter. And they'll have an excellent defnesive record, even though Ben White has gone. But they will only score one goal every four games, and that isn't good. Picture: Getty Images
15. Crystal Palace
I always – always – tip Palace to go down, even when they're not in the Premier. And they never do. Never. So this year I've given up giving up on them, especially as they have an exciting new manager in the form of Patrick Vieira after Roy Hodgson marked his 90th birthday by retiring. I can only apologie to Palace fans for not predicting you'll go down. Picture: Getty Images
16. Norwich
If you've ever used a yo-yo, you'll know it's impossible to keep them going forever. Similarly yo-yo clubs can't keep on going up and down. Which is the main reason that the Canaries might actually still be chirping come May. They'll win a few games 4-3 and lose a few more 5-1 but survive with a game or two to spare. Picture: Getty Images
