The two-time Blues boss has been installed as an early favourite for the Fratton Park job following the exit of Andy Awford.

Previously, the 68-year-old guided Pompey to the Premier League, claimed the 2008 FA Cup and also led the club into European competition for the first time in its history.

However, despite leaving QPR in February, Redknapp is presently not looking at a Fratton managerial return.

He told The News: ‘Would I be interested in the job? I don’t think so, I am enjoying the break at the moment.

‘I will wait until the end of the season and see what comes up.

‘I still follow Portsmouth, they were the happiest times for me, I loved every minute when I was there, but I wouldn’t see that happening really,

‘I really don’t want to dive into anything, I’m going to wait to see how I feel in the summer and see if anything comes up that interests me. If not I won’t bother.’

Redknapp totalled 243 appearances during his two Pompey spells before walking away from the club in October 2008 for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues have employed eight managers since then, with Awford leaving by mutual consent on Monday, and currently find themselves 14th in League Two.
