Football returns to The Salts

FOOTBALL will return to The Salts for the first time this season tonight (Wednesday).

Rye United’s FA Vase heroes will at long last get to play on their own ground in a Sussex County League Division One match against Hassocks.

The Salts, which is also used by Rye Cricket Club during the summer, has been out of action since the Sidney Allnutt Pavilion was destroyed in an arson attack back in August.

Southern Water and 4 Delivery have worked together to help the club by providing four refurbished portable buildings at the ground that will act as dressing rooms for players and officials.

A fifth building was donated by Rye Wharf, and Rye chairman Clive Taylor, in particular, has worked extremely hard to bring about the homecoming.

Rye manager Scott Price may well switch things around a little bit from the FA Vase victory over Staveley Miners Welfare last weekend with one or two players likely to be rested. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Return to this website tonight to find out how Rye get on.
