The Seagulls complete the set of last season's top four when they travel to champions Manchester City this afternoon.

Despite the tough fixtures, Brighton sit 13th with five points from six Premier League matches.

Asked if he's been happy with the Seagulls' start, Hughton said: Yes. I think I’ll be happier after the weekend.

"I think it’s natural that you have to put into the equation the games you have played and obviously post Man City we’ll have played seven games and four of them being the top six and two others away from home.

"So probably the best time is post-Man City. And then if we are happy with our position and points then it will be because we have had a difficult start and got through those big games.

"And when we look at those big games we have beaten United, come close against Liverpool and eventually, close against Tottenham where we gave away a bad penalty."
