Brighton and Hove Albion played well against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium

With neither side able to break the deadlock in 90 minutes, the match went to extra-time. Rashford was denied a winner when his deflected effort was superbly pushed away by Sanchez at the end of the first half of extra-time.

The England forward later lashed wide, while Kaoru Mitoma threatened to snatch victory for Brighton before the game went to a penalty shoot-out.

Manchester United won 7-6 on penalties after Brighton winger Solly March blazed over from 12 yards.

Victor Lindelof converted the decisive spot-kick to put United into the final on Saturday, June 3 against rivals Manchester City.

In yesterday’s other semi-final, Manchester City comfortably advanced thanks to a 3-0 win against Championship highflyers Sheffield United – a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick did the damage.

The FA Cup final will be played on Saturday, June 3 at Wembley Stadium.
