In the meantime, record numbers of football fans have been taking to Football Manager to get their fix. For a bit of fun, we've fired up the popular management sim and sent the game into the future, to have a peek at who the Seagulls are predicted to sign over the next three transfer windows.
5. Matt Doherty - Wolves - 13.5 million
It's...another defender. Still, he's a quality addition and is handed the number two shirt straight away. The highly experienced right-back spent a decade at Wolves.
6. Oriol Romeu - Southampton - 6.75 million
Yes! It's not a defender! The ex-Chelsea and Barcelona powerhouse is brought in on Deadline Day. His strength, bravery and anticipation stats are all very impressive.
7. Ryan Fredericks - West Ham - 6 million
The January transfer window arrives, and Brighton wait just two days to sign someone. We'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume they'll use the versatile player in midfield.
8. Brahim Diaz - Real Madrid - Loan
A Galactico in on loan? Yes please. The attacking midfielder, formerly of Man City, joins until the end of the season. He's got bags of potential, and plenty of flair.
