David Moyes makes honest confession after West Ham held by Brighton

Said Benrahma's first goal for the Hammers salvaged a point after Danny Welbeck had given Albion a late lead.

It remained a damaging result for West Ham in their quest for a place in next season's Champions League.

"I thought we played very well for long periods in the game, especially in the first-half," Moyes told reporters after the game. "I felt Brighton improved in the second-half.

"We didn't do enough in the final third. Our decision making was poor and there was not enough quality in the pass.

"We gave away a really bad goal. We can't keep giving the opposition a goal.

"We've had games where we've gone three or four up and tonight could have been another one if we had clinical finishing.

"All credit to Brighton. I think they are a good side."

Moyes defended the performance of former Albion loanee Jesse Lingard, whose goals have dried up after a blistering start for West Ham.

He said: "Jesse played really well again tonight, as he has done in all the games.

"You sometimes need something to connect. We made a couple of really good opportunities in the first half but couldn't get them in.

"The final ball and decision making hasn't been good enough,

"We've been fantastic all year and were again tonight. The character has been magnificent. They know what we're fighting for and what we're trying to do."
