Epic ride for charity

TWO WEST Sussex riders are taking part in a testing ride on horseback through the Jordanian desert to raise maximum money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Mary Baddock and Caroline Ingham, both of Horsham will be tackling an eight-day trip, five of which will be on horseback, in the Tri-Jordan Challenge in April, where their initial aim was to raise more than £3,000 each for a cause which is close to their hearts.

Both of them have close relatives and friends who have died of cancer, and are aware of how vital it is for patients and relatives alike to have the support of nursing care offered by the charity.

“We wanted to do something positive and teamed up with the charity. We will be thrilled if we can help raise the profile of Marie Cure Cancer Care,” said Caroline.

Their fundraising has received such outstanding support that they reached the £6,000 target four months ahead of schedule. They have now raised the bar and set a new target of £10,000. The money raised will be going towards looking after terminally ill people at home and more specifically it will be going towards looking after patients in the Sussex area.
