EP CAUGHT BY MUSSELS

THERE WERE four goals scored and three points earned at Middle Road on Saturday but Shoreham know they have goalie Jason Ellison to thank for keeping East Preston at bay when they threatened most.

Two first-half saves either side of Darren Annis' opening goal proved simply invaluable with EP failing to test Mussels seriously from then on.

The first save came after half an hour when Lee Farrell released Simon Clayton for a clear run on Ellison's goal. Despite a fine shot by Clayton - low to Ellison's left - the big keeper was down in a flash to save at full stretch.

Farrell decided to go it alone 10 minutes later. Easing past Reece Head and bearing down on goal, he attempted a lob but Ellison threw up his left hand and diverted the ball away.

Farrell had earlier shot wide from eight yards after a poorly-defended corner, and his wail of frustration when he saw his chip saved suggested he knew then how his afternoon was going to finish.
