The St Leonards potter achieved three very good wins at Bendigo Stadium before losing 6-2 to world number two Neil Robertson yesterday (Saturday).

Robertson, who won the previous week’s Wuxi Classic in China, rarely looked in danger during a comfortable win over Davis even though Davis beat him in the same event two years ago, as well as in the finals of the Six-Reds World Championship and General Cup last year.

The Australian went 3-0 up with top breaks of 84 and 80, and after losing the next two frames, he won three in a row with high scores of 100 and 75.

It was the fourth time that world number 17 Davis has reached the semi-finals of a full ranking event, although his quest to make his first final continues.

Robertson went on to lose 9-5 in the final against Judd Trump, who claimed his first world ranking title in 20 months.
