Sidley out to improve away form

At Gullivers they have had the better part of two draws and suffered a last ball defeat, but on the road Sidley have been well beaten twice and had the worse part of a draw.

Sidley have amassed 845 runs in their three Sussex Cricket League Division Two matches on home soil so far with a lowest score of 240, while away from home they’ve scored 440 with a best of 189.

Their captain John Haffenden said: “Sidley’s an easy place to bat and some of the shots we get out to when we play away it’s just a lack of familiarity with the ground.

“When you play on a track every other week that comes on a bit with no bounce and no real movement, and then you play on a different pitch you need to adjust and we’ve not done that very well.”

Sidley are on their travels for the next two weekends with a trip to Findon tomorrow (Saturday) being followed by a journey to unbeaten leaders Three Bridges next week. “We’ve got a tough two weeks coming up,” added Haffenden.

Tomorrow’s game brings together the Division Three (West) champions of 2011 and the Division Three (East) winners, but Findon have made the better side to life in Division Two.

They lie seventh after a nine-wicket thrashing of St James’s Montefiore last weekend, while bottom-of-the-table Sidley are 30 points adrift of a Pulborough side which occupies the final safe spot of third-from-bottom.

Neil Priddy and Wes Tate are expected to return against Findon, but Chris Deeprose and Ian Vye are unavailable to travel, and Craig Ramsden misses out through work.
