Sidley one wicket from victory

SIDLEY came within one wicket of securing their first win of the season in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League.

After posting an imposing total of 254, bottom-of-the-table Sidley managed to winkle out all but the last wicket as Cuckfield held on for a draw at Gullivers.

Peter King top-scored with 71 for Sidley, while Josh Hayward was the most successful visiting bowler with figures of 6-79. Nick Walters then weighed in with a crucial 53 as Cuckfield finished on 202-9.

Crowhurst Park suffered a 39-run defeat away to Lindfield in Division Three (East).

The home side totalled 216-6 thanks to an unbroken seventh wicket stand of 78 between Josh Hinde (55 not out) and Kingsley Morris (23 not out). Bradley Payne (3-59), Martin Menezes (2-32) and Paul Brookes (1-40) were the wicket-takers.

In reply, Park were all out for 177 despite decent knocks from Brookes (56) and Martin Barry (48). James Pearce (4-58) and Morris (3-38) did most of the damage with the ball.
