George Campbell will not be continuing in a role he has held for the past three years and a successor will be sought over the winter months.

Priory first team coach Ian Gillespie said: “There definitely will be a change of captain. We’re going to have to identify a new captain for next season to look at getting us up.

“It will probably be a new captain I would’ve thought and it’s probably going to be a homegrown player. Hopefully the captain will have that opportunity to get some experience in a lower division.

“George intends to still play subject to availability with his job north of London and he’ll be a good asset when he’s around.”

Priory will line up in Sussex Cricket League Division Two for the first time next year having finished bottom of the Premier League and been relegated this summer.

“The rebuilding process has got to be put together,” added Gillespie. “We’ve got to see what we can do to attract players to overcome some of our weaknesses, but I think the biggest thing is to strengthen our squad. We need more depth, particularly in the seam bowling and the batting.”

Elliot Hooper, Finn Hulbert and Harry Finch are all due to spend the winter in Australia.
