Priory unbeaten run ended by Worthing

HASTINGS Priory have been knocked off top spot after losing for the first time this season in the Sussex Premier Cricket League.

Priory slipped to second in the standings - behind Preston Nomads - following a surprise five wicket defeat against Worthing at Horntye Park.

The home side, missing the in-form Kirk Wernars, amassed 252-8 off 58 overs after opting to take first knock.

Adam Maharaj-Newman compiled 96 off 98 balls which included nine fours and two sixes, while support came from opener Toby Finzel (51) and Sujith Perera (35).

Matt Norris (84), Darryl Rebbetts (70) and Andy Lutwyche (35 not out) saw Worthing over the line with seven balls to spare.

Josh Poysden (3-79), Perera (1-30) and John Morgan (1-41) were the successful Priory bowlers.
