Two of the club’s boxers scored impressive third-round technical knockouts at an event in Balham.

First to step into the ring was Bognor’s 21-year-old unbeaten Wes Samboa, taking on 31-year-old Micheal Alveranga, and despite both men landing plenty of quickfire jabs in the first and second rounds, Samboa landed a powerful three-punch combination to cut the Balham boxer’s mouth badly, resulting in the referee giving a standing eight count and immediately stopping the bout.

Next was heavyweight 21-year-old unbeaten Luke Crook fighting 25-year-old Faisal Rutanaingwa. Round one kicked off with both boxers exchanging jabs early but in round two, Crook scored a total of three knockdowns from big shots – the last knockdown being right on the bell to end the round.

Crook continued to push through the final round leaving the referee no choice but to stop the bout.

Bognor coach Steve Smith, said: “What makes these wins so special is that we gave away weight and experience to both Balham boxers.

“With brilliant wins both at the end of 2019 and a great start to this year, the coaches and the boys are excited to see what 2020 brings to the club.”
