Bowls bonanza

THE 44th Bexhill Ladies' Open Bowls Tournament reached an entertaining conclusion in the sunshine at the Polegrove Greens on Sunday.

Home bowler Lyndsey Hodd, 23, lifted the ladies' singles title with a 21-8 defeat of Helen Jennings (Sidley Martlets), going one better than last year when she finished runner-up.

The honours are coming thick and fast for the Polegrove Ladies ace because she is due to represent Sussex in the under-31s Amy Rose Bowl and in the under-25s pairs at the National Championships at Leamington Spa.
