Booth scoops Player of the Month for August

Lewes forward Paul Booth has been named the first ever Blue Square South Player of the Month.

Striker Booth was handed the award for his prolific goalscoring form throughout August.

A spokesman for the betting firm that sponsors the Conference South said, "Lewes forward Paul Booth wins the Blue Square South award after finding the net an incredible six times in five games.

"Remarkably four of those goals were scored from the penalty spot, two of those in the away match at Dorchester."

The award for Player of the Month in the Blue Square Premier went to Cambridge United summer signing Leo Fortune-West, while the August winner in the Blue Square North was Danny Holland of Harrogate Town.

Despite his side's superb start to the season, Rooks boss Steve King did not pick up the award for Blue Square South Manager of the Month for August.

That went to John Relish of Bath City. The Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month was Salisbury City boss Nick Holmes. The Blue Square North winner was Kettering Town manager Mark Cooper.
