Bexhill end losing streak

BEXHILL put an end to a four game losing streak with a fine 82 run victory over Preston Nomads in the Sussex Cricket League.

The Polegrove side are now just 17 points adrift of Division Two leaders East Grinstead and hot on the heels of promotion rivals Stirlands and Cuckfield.

The wandering Nomads had already defeated Bexhill in the cup this season, but there was to be no repeat performance as Australian skipper Sam Roberts took the game by the scruff of the neck with an impressive 87. Unusually he found some solid support, with Matthew Blackman knocking 37 and Bexhill declared on 193-8.

Ian Jones (3-70) and Imran Khan (4-60) were the most successful bowlers.

Nomads tumbled to 109 all out despite a lusty 32 from their skipper Michael Strong.

Roberts (4-20) was executioner-in-chief, while Blackman (2-19) and Rakesh Patel (3-27) also performed well.
