Bexhill close in on Sunday title

Craig Ottley and Ian Rise netted to open up a five-point lead at the summit from closest challengers Silverhill Club who won 12-3 against Abbey.

On target were James Carman (6), Danny Woodley (3), Nathan Russell (2) and Darren Goodridge, while Chris Smith (penalty), Dave Miller and Darren Taylor replied for the Battle-based outfit.

Comet saw their lead at the top of Division Two cut to nine points after slumping to a 2-1 defeat against nearest challengers Unilock who have three games in hand. Chris Stonham and Nicky Stiles scored for Unilock but the real hero was keeper Craig Phillips who saved two penalties. The only player to beat him was Ross Emmerick.

Tilekiln Community Centre are through to the last four of the Demarco Cup after a 2-1 win over Collington in the quarter-finals. Shaun Loft and Mickey O'Callaghan struck for the Division One side, while Trevor Thorogood responded for the battling underdogs.

The final of the Wisden Plate will be between Hooe GAF and Hungry Horse Boys to be played at the Pilot Field on March 21. Hooe triumphed 4-2 over Seven Stars thanks to goals from Ian Oliver (2), Bobby Hewitt and Julian Olive, while Ed Crowhurst and Jake Hillier replied. Matt Simmons was the star for Hungry Horse with both goals in a 2-1 victory against Peasmarsh whose consolation came from Dean Wilson.
