ARUNDEL OUT OF SENIOR CUP

FOR THE second Saturday running, Arundel made their exit from a cup competition.

Whereas last week's FA Vase defeat at Bridlington was palatable - just - the Senior Cup crash at Rye seven days later will have been more galling.

But Arundel manager Mike Rowland was scathing about the whole experience. He said: "I'd rather go to Whitehawk any day. Rye is a nasty, spiteful and unnecessarily intimidating place to go. How they got in the County League in the first place is a mystery to me."

Rowland knew that Rye had two strong centre-halves and decent delivery would be needed if his team were to get anything out of the tie.
