Who did this to me?

A SINGLE mum needed five stitches to a gaping head wound after someone threw a bottle at her in a nightclub.

Dawn Lindsey, 42, is still suffering from concussion six days after the incident at Lush Nightclub on Worthing Pier, which happened at around 1.20am on Friday.

While Ms Lindsey, a mum of three, drifted in and out of consciousness, bouncers called an ambulance but were told there would be a 20-minute delay because all the ambulances in Worthing were busy and one had to come from Littlehampton.

Ms Lindsey, pictured, was taken to Worthing Hospital, where she needed five stitches and was kept in for more than four hours because her blood pressure had plummeted due to blood loss.

Mrs Lindsey, a barmaid, has this week appealed for anyone who saw what happened to her to get in touch with the police.

She said: "It is just not on. I was not causing any trouble. I was just out with friends and this came from nowhere.

"I was a bit tipsy but I was not drunk. I was out with my boyfriend and my friend and we were in the middle of the dance floor. All I remember is feeling this thud on the side of my head. I just about made it to the entrance and then collapsed.

"The bouncers were trying to keep me awake because I was drifting in and out of consciousness. They told me it took 20 minutes for the ambulance to turn up because it had to come from Littlehampton as all the ambulances in Worthing were busy but I was out of it.

"There was no broken glass on the floor and I do not know what happened. Even if this was a genuine accident, the person still needs to be aware of the consequences of their actions.

"I am a single mother with three kids, my ex-husband is very good, but this could have been a lot worse and it does not just affect me.

"I have been going to the club for a long time and I do not blame them but I do think the police should have been called at the time. I had to go and report it when I felt a bit better on Tuesday morning."

Town centre sergeant Pete Darkin said: "This was a very nasty attack."
