Village calls for support in battle to stay put

ASHINGTON is fighting proposals to transfer it from the Storrington electoral division to the Billingshurst and Shipley area.

The suggestion has come in a review of electoral boundaries in West Sussex, which is trying to ensure that every county councillor represents the same number of electors.

The parish council says it is very concerned by this proposal because it does not take into account the identity and interests of Ashington, whose doctors, dentists and other healthcare services are located in Storrington or Steyning.
