VIDEO: Customer ‘infuriated’ by HMV gift voucher refusal

An angry customer has said she is ‘infuriated’ after HMV confirmed they would not be accepting gift cards and vouchers following news they are set to appoint an administrator.

Lisa Snee, aged 42, of Lower Beeding, went to the Horsham branch of the music and DVD chain in West Street this morning (January 15) and was turned away when she tried to cash in her son’s £10 gift card.

“I never complain but I was so infuriated by it,” she told the County Times.

“Companies allow people to buy gift cards before Christmas knowing full well they’re in trouble.

“It’s not fair and the government need to do something about it.

“I also feel sorry for the staff. There was already a queue in the shop and the people who work there were getting a lot of stick at that was at 9am this morning.”

The news follows the collapse of Jessops, the camera retailer, which closed on Friday with the loss of 1,400 jobs.

HMV, which has branches in Horsham and Crawley, will keep its 239 stores open while Deloitte seek potential buyers.
