“The many visitors enjoyed the floral display as well as coffee and cakes, the raffle and plant sale.”
Alasdair MacCulloch won the Spring Show Cup for gaining the most points in the show and the Vincent Cup for the best exhibit in the section for flowers.
The Hilda Philips cup went to Tony Hills for his nine perfect blooms in the daffodil of one variety category.

Gillian Woodrow won the Saltings Cup for her photography.
In the children’s section, there were only two entries – Esther Toe, seven, produced a delightful poster to promote wildlife conservation and her sister Rachel, three, grew cress in a brightly decorated egg-shell.
Pat added: “We hope they will enter again in the future, and that other children will give them some competition.”
More good news came during the morning when two people offered their services, so the future of the society could be secured for a few more years.
