Ultimate Madness a wise choice for entertainment at Littlehampton Town Show

WACKY rides, man-eating balloons and baggy trousers will all be in one place on Saturday (September 12).

The Littlehampton Town Show and Family Fun Day, at Rosemead Open Space, offers a day of entertainment for the whole family, organised by Littlehampton Town Council.

Councillor Dr Walsh, chairman of the community resources committee, said: "This is a very special event for Littlehampton as it brings together the community to form an array of displays of the great work that goes on in the town, not to mention the incredible local talent that will be showcased throughout the afternoon."

A town council spokeswoman said the programme was packed throughout the afternoon, with performances on stage from tribute act Ultimate Madness, who will have the crowd stomping to their ska beat, and the reggae rhythms of the Littlehampton Community School Steel Band.

Starting at noon, the attractions will include the Segway Experience, giving everyone the opportunity to try out the futuristic two-wheeled transport and navigate an obstacle course. Balloon Man, who will put on a crazy show, including being eaten by a giant balloon, will also entertain the masses.

Dance-off

There will be a climbing wall, a bouncy castle and a community marquee, with more than 50 stands, an arts and crafts area to keep the children amused, with activities including face painting, and a host of vegetables, including those of the giant variety, will be on display in the horticultural tent, together with craft and cookery exhibits.

Two massive competitions will also be running on the day, with Cuff Miller giving everyone the chance to win a Nintendo Wii, in a free prize draw, and the chance to win a signed Madness t-shirt by dressing up like the band and taking part in a "dance-off", during a performance by Ultimate Madness.

A bingo tent, hosted by the Wick 50 Up Club, will be another draw to the event.

Bumper crop

The spokeswoman continued: "With all this action it is likely that your tummy will start rumbling, so we have lined up a selection of stalls from some of the best local caterers including a hog roast from the Arun View, to oriental food from the Thai Kitchen, to fresh sandwiches and paninis from Baguette Me Not."

Organisers of the craft and horticultural show are hoping for a bumper crop of entries, and particularly in their new community classes, giving local groups to compete against each other.
