Christopher Neale, 21, of Brookside Avenue, Rustington, has been charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and kidnap. Younger brother, Andrew Neale, 19, of no fixed abode, was also charged with GBH with intent, kidnap and assault by beating.

The victim and suspects are all known to each other, a police spokeswoman has said.

The pair both appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court, on Monday (June 3), and did not enter a plea to the offences.

Magistrates committed them to Chichester Crown Court for a hearing on August 23, as they didn’t have the jurisdiction to try with the charges.

Both of the accused have since been released on bail.
