Train timetables now arriving show lots of changes...

Temporary timetables should soon be available detailing changes to every train serving Bognor Regis.

The timetable is set to be published early next month. It will show how passengers will have to make major alterations to their journeys during a nine-day period.

The latest bout of disruption is another result of the 25m-worth of improvements which have been taking place around Barnham railway station since the start of this year.

The forthcoming work involves providing 21st-century signalling to replace the Victorian semaphore system still in use.

A Southern Railway spokesman said: "Network Rail will be improving the signalling and track layout around Barnham station.

"This will allow greater flexibility for operating trains in and out of the station, which will provide benefits to timetables as well as improving performance."

But, in the short term, passengers will have to endure a mixture of cancelled and retimed services and replacement buses.

The current information shows that no trains will run between Bognor, Chichester and Littlehampton on the weekends of November 8 and 9 and again on November 15 and 16. They will be replaced by a series of buses.

The week in between '“ November 10 to 14 '“ will see an amended train service for Bognor.

This will be split into peak and off-peak periods.

Peak periods are expected to see most Bognor to London services run. However, morning departure trains from Bognor and Barnham will be earlier than usual. Evening arrival times will be later than normal.

Some services on the West Coastway route will be revised. They will either run to a different destination or end short of their usual destination. Some services will also be earlier than normal.

In off-peak periods, the services to and from London will be the only trains using Bognor station. Their departure times are likely to be earlier than usual and their arrivals later.

All other services will be withdrawn. The trains to and from Littlehampton will go to Chichester instead. Those just to Barnham will not run.

However, a 15-minute shuttle service of replacement buses will carry passengers between Bognor and Barnham.
