Three-year-old rescues her mum from bathroom

THREE-year-old Grace Longhurst has all makings of a superhero.

Grace rescued her mother Jeanette Longhurst after she became trapped in the bathroom of the family’s home.

“I got up around 7.55am to use the bathroom before I checked on Grace,” said Jeanette.

“I absent-mindedly locked the bathroom door. As I went to unlock it, the knob from the lock came off in my hands.

“Grace was alone in her bedroom next door where she was kept secure by a safety gate. I shouted to her to try to open the gate.”

Frantically trying to open the door with nail clippers and even an electric toothbrush, she told Grace to climb over the gate.

“Eventually, she managed to drag a wooden toy box towards the gate. She then threw her duvet over the gate, and managed to climb over it without any bruises.”

Some three hours after the drama began, Grace picked up the spindle of the door lock which had fallen on to the floor and put it back, allowing her mother to open the door.
