Three paddle boarders left ‘stuck in the mud up to their waists’ in Emsworth

Emergency services responded to reports of three paddle boarders stuck in the mud up to their waists in Emsworth this afternoon.

The Selsey Coastguard and Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Teams attended the scene at 2.04pm, along with Hampshire Fire and Rescue, Hayling Lifeboat, and The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).

The three people were safely taken ashore and no medical assistance was required.

A Selsey Coastguard spokesman warned people to always check the tide times before going to the beach or out on the water.

“The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you’re local or not,” the spokesman said.

“Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you’re in trouble. Please help us and our families stay safe. Be aware of the risks, keep your distance.”
