The 61-year-old victim was looking around an empty property off Cinque Ports Street, close to the junction with Station Approach, between midday and 1pm on Monday (13 April) when the men walked in and threatened her.

The men searched the property and stole the victim’s cash and mobile phone before leaving. They are believed to have turned right into Cinque Ports Street, walking in the direction of Ferry Road.

The first man was white, stocky and in his late twenties. He had a dark beard, short dark hair and a spotty complexion. He was wearing a white shirt.

The second man was white, slim and in his mid twenties. He had long wavy hair that was greased back. He was wearing a high collared jacket.

The third man was white and stocky with short, fair hair. He was wearing a blue tracksuit.

Detective Constable Ian Dearling said: “It is very rare for members of the public to be subject to this type of crime.

Although shocked, the victim was thankfully unharmed. It is believed that this was an opportunistic offence and we are considering the possibility that the men may have mistaken the victim for someone else.

“We are appealing for anyone that knows anything about what happened or who saw three men behaving suspiciously in the area at the time to contact us.”
