Taking a tip from DOVE

MORE than 180 people packed the Hillcrest Centre, Newhaven, on Monday to hear about the public inquiry into the waste plan, which earmarks Newhaven as the best site for an incinerator.

DOVE (Defenders of the Ouse Valley and Estuary) held the meeting to advise people how to fill in public consultation forms.

The group was concerned the forms, which were posted to everyone who made a representation to the first and second deposits of the Waste Local Plan, were as complicated as a tax return.

DOVE chairman Joelle van Tinteren said: 'If you need advice, there is not much time to return your form as they all have to be back before January 20.'

There will be another meeting on January 13, 7.30 pm, at the Baptist Hall, Belgrave Road, Seaford.

People can email [email protected] for a copy of the form filling instructions or phone 01273 516807. Those who have lost their form can call programme officer Margaret Baker on 01273 481773 for another.
