Supermarket jobs may face axe

STAFF at a supermarket face redundancy.

Eight bakery workers could lose their jobs at the Co-op store in The Quintins, Hailsham.

The job losses might result from a change in franchise contracts at the store.

A Co-op spokesman said: 'The eight bakery staff at our Hailsham store are employed by a company called In Bake.

'This currently operates the concession on a franchise basis under the Don Millers brand.

'The Co-operative has issued notice to In Bake that it intends to replace this franchise with its own Co-operative Bakery from October this year.

'The Co-operative is working closely with In Bake and will make every effort to minimise job losses of the bakery staff.'
